ChloĂ© Arts is an initiative embracing the houseâs legacy of female creativity. Its mission is to celebrate the achievement of outstanding female talent, nurture emerging artists, and create unexpected interdisciplinary conversations across different field of the arts.
Francesca Allen âKonkursasâ is published under the ChloĂ© Arts Steidl imprint. The book is released in coordination with the exhibition in the same name at ChloĂ©âs partner booth at Paris Photo 2025, which is on view from November 12 to 16 at Grand Palais.
Photographed in Lithuania at Konkursas Pasaulio IlgaplaukÄs, an annual competition for the worldâs longest hair, Francesca Allenâs âKonkursasâ depicts participants as they walk the runway, have their hair measured by gloved judges, and take part in a ceremonial finale of shaking their hair. Allen's fascination with ritual and coming-of-age sparked the artist's interest in documenting the contest, which blends pageantry with folklore. The resulting photographs explore the dichotomy between modernity and tradition, and what it means to be a girl today.Â
